McClellan Custom Made Herringbone Dreadnought HD-28 Acoustic 2019
Matthew McClellan has been building fine boutique acoustic guitars in South Carolina for years.
His custom builds have incredible attention to detail, and each one is made to measure for the customer who commissioned it.
This is serial #08. It is a traditional Dreadnought Body, Herringbone trim and rosette. Solid East Indian Rosewood for the back and sides and Spruce top. Scalloped bracing, Ebony fretboard and Bridge, one piece Honduran Mahogany Neck and gorgeous highly flamed maple bindings.
The nut width is a comfy 1 3/4" and the scale length is the traditional 25.5"
We contacted Mr McClellan and he said this serial was commissioned and built in 2019. The player was a bluegrass musician, so the bridge was cut in a way that added a slightly thicker mass on the bass side, resulting in a stronger bass response. It sounds incredible.
The finish is a very thin skin Nitro, and it shows only the slightest few evidences of natural honest play wear
The frets are in great shape, the action is nice and low and setup for a heavier strum.
included is a deluxe flight style case from Gator
We gave the guitar a fresh string change and WOW! What a boomer
The commission price was over $5k....this is an opportunity to get a truly bespoke guitar for what a regular 'off the shelf' HD-28 costs
We ship SAME DAY so you get your stuff FAST
